INTERNATIONAL THESPIAN SOCIETY
At Piedmont Hills, Drama students are recognized for their involvement by being inducted into the Theatre Honors Society or International Thespian Society. This distinction offers students leadership opportunities, honors at graduation, eligibility for scholarships, an induction ceremony, as well as possible national recognition.
Honoring Student Achievement
in Theatre
Piedmont Hills is a registered ITS (International Thespian Society) Troupe. This distinction offers Drama students opportunities for leadership roles, scholarships, as well honors at graduation and possibly national recognition. Students engage in theater-related activities and performances to accumulate points to qualify for induction. Each point represents 10 hours of quality participation. The minimum eligibility requirement for Thespian induction is 100 hours of quality work in theatre arts and related disciplines during their high school career.
Induction Ceremony
Each year, Drama students coordinate an Honors Induction Ceremony with:
* live student performances
* student directed scenes
(published or original works)
* reflections on the role theatre has played in their lives
* Recognition of reaching one of these tiers:
Thespian
Honor Thespian
Scholar Thespian
